    Optimate SAE71 lead install issue

    Hi all,

So I connected a optimate SAE71 lead to the battery as I have done with all my bikes. But the thing now is I can hear a buzz or beep sound when I turn the bike on. I can start the bike without a problem. Is it due to the optimate lead install? Have I missed something and the beep was always there?

Anybody had or have the same issue? I removed the negative side first off the battery, then the positive, then attached the leads to the positive first and last to the negative.

    Thanks
    Jay

Well I took the optimate cable off and just turned the bike on as per normal, there is still a beeeeep until you turn the engine on. I assume all bikes do this unless I'm going mad. I'll have to wait till I'm next to one again.

Attaching the Optimate itself shouldn't introduce any new weird noises, as it isn't technically making any electrical connections until you plug a charger into the other side.
Is it just the fuel pump priming that you can hear?

I really don't know and don't know enough about the bike yet to confirm it. Hopefully if I get next to another one I can confirm it. I agree that adding a lead should not make any difference.

Just to rest your mind, I went and started my bike and it makes the same beeping noise you speak of. I almost never turn the bike on without a helmet being on first, so wasn't sure which noise you were referring to.
Enjoy the bike and don't worry any further.

Many thanks for doing that for me. I really appreciate it. I agree I hardly have my helmet off when starting the bike.
    Thanks Again! :-)

Yeah, I also have this. I don't think it's anything to worry about, even though lots of people clearly do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA31wZXEMO0&t

The guy in that video notes that the sound stops when he disconnects the throttle servo - I reckon that's your answer.

Interesting, thanks very much for the information. I'm not worried about it anymore.
