    Touching bases

Greetings. I'm still around and reading your latest posts. Settled on the BMW F700GS for several reasons. First, the smooth rides over my crappy roads. Second, the balance with the fuel under the seat is very rider friendly versus other top heavy ADV type bikes. I miss my -10, but the F7 is a good fit for me. Being a sport bike lover, I'm still tweaking the look with wheel stripes and trimmed front fender. Too bad it's only 75 hp and a twin, but I can live with that for the ride comfort. Cheers all!

Great to hear from you Tiger. Good show. Glad the 800cc BMW F700GS suits you sir. The Nitron R3 Shock in my MT-10 sorted it for me. Happy Days keep on trucking!

A mate of mine that I ride with here in Oz has the exact same bike as yours, he loves it.
Whatever HP you lose with the BMW F700GS is more than made up for when you leave the tar and find yourself on some sketchy loose gravel roads.

    Enjoy

I trimmed an inch off the top of the factory screen yesterday and test rode it. Now the screen is working very much like the -10, which I was totally happy with. Took it up to 90 while testing it. No adrenalin rush, but not boring either. 250 miles per tank is a welcome change.

^ Good work Tiger... plus I reckon that your lower back is no longer angry with you, lol.

Yep. Bumps are still bumps, but I no longer have to brace myself and clench my teeth anticipating the hits.

Hopefully, it will also prove reliable versus the S1000R posts we've seen. F700 and 800 forums are reporting 50-100k miles without major breakdowns. Earlier models had weaknesses, but they've all been sorted by BMW. One poster bought three F7s identical to mine for himself and a husband/wife pair of friends from Australia. They flew over and rode them across the Yukon and Alaska to the Arctic Circle and back this summer. Not a single failure for the entire trip. He logged it like you did to the Harz Mountains. Very entertaining.
