    top box advice

never had a top box on a bike before but i want something we can stick our helmets in if we go out for the day
i know they look crap anyway so thought id just go for a big one, wont be leaving it on the bike much if i can help
ill be honest with ya, im finding it a bit confusing lol the yamaha site seems to have taken their 50ltr box off
plus you need rack box and key lock.
the givi ya need a box, mount and a rack but i think ive got it sussed,
think ive decided to go for this one
before i pull the trigger any advice? does it meet my brief? are they easy enough to whip on and off? have i got the right right mounts etc?
    cheers mates

The rack is the one I have with a VN47 box, 4 bolts with lock nuts which are slightly fiddly but not bad and the rack is on/off in under 10 minuets and for me didn't have any noticeable effect on the bike except loosing a few style points.

I use Yamaha 39L. Clips on & off Yamaha rack in seconds.

I went for optional Yamaha lock as the bikes key is used.

*Edit, 50L box owner(s) say it won't hold 2 LARGE helmets.

I did the same as you Richard H. I already had the box and the plate, just re-drilled the plate to fit the Givi rack, all sorted for under £50. Happy days. Alps here we come.

The 50L box would be needed for 2 helmets tho.

    One / I stand(s) corrected... Cheers.

I'd wrongly assumed that Yamaha made the bigger 50L for 2 helmets to fit into, but as my hopeful assumption proves out to be false I've edited & corrected my earlier posting; see below:

    * Edit, 50L box owner says it won't hold 2 large or flip front helmets either.
Dare I make another dastardly assumption but we'll call it a (PPP) probable possible proposition tho lol:

May be this, 50L not holding 2 *(large) helmets, is why some have said that the 50L top-box is no longer listed by Yamaha.

Thanks for the useful corrective info...

*edited regarding the update that 50L won't hold 2 (LARGE) helmets.

    Cheers!

thanks for all the advice guys

x Plane i noticed that they stopped listing the 50L box a few days ago and i can confirm it did state it would hold 2 helmets
but there seems to be a general consensus that if the helmets are large sized or flip fronts then they wont fit

for that reason i went for the larger givi one, plus it was a lot cheaper

On info 2 LARGE helmets don't fit in 50L top-box.

    I've edited ^ to reflex this ^.

    All good.
